Six acres of land were allotted to him in Weymouth in 1636. He was admitted as a freeman in 1648.Death
(Suffolk Probate, 6: 425.)John Staples, Sr., of Weymouth, being lame and weake, made his will 18 Mar. 1681-82, and it was proved 2 Aug. 1683. In it he mentions his son John to have a salt marsh at Braintree purchased of John Harbour, his son Abraham, his son Joseph, his son-in-law Samuel Sumner, and to his daughter Rebecca, wife of said Samuel, his son-in-law Increase Sumner and his daughter Sarah, wife of Increase, to have his estate in Weymouth; son John Staples and son-in-law Increase Sumner, executors. Witnesses: Thomas Dun and William Chard.
