Probate
In his will written 8 February 1787 (probate 8 March 1803), Samuel Holt bequeathed to beloved wife Abigail all the household stuff proper for woman’s use and use of west end of the dwelling house. He orders son Isaac to provide for his mother with specific provisions and if that is neglected, Abigail will receive the use and improvement of one-third of the real estate. Beloved son Samuel receives £30. Son Isaac receives all the real estate and all the personal estate. Daughter Abigail receives £15 to be paid in one year of his decease or sooner if she marries. Daughter Elizabeth receives the same bequest. The books are to be equally divided among the children. Isaac was named executor.
