Will
In his will written 7 January 1811 and proved 1 March 1826, Benjamin Holt directs that his executor David Holt pay the legacies in the will. Beloved wife Hannah receives a full one-third part of the real estate and full use of all the household furniture during her natural life. Son Nicolas receives twenty-two dollars which completes his portion. Son David receives all the real and personal estate except Benjamin reserves one yolk of oxen. To complete their full portions daughter Sarah Chandler receives twenty-two dollars, daughters Hannah Mason, Molly Russell, Mehitable Shannon, and Phebe Chandler each receive twenty-five dollars, and daughter Dolly Shannon twenty-two dollars. Daughter Betty Holt receives one hundred dollars. Granddaughter Hannah Norris with what she has received is her full share. Daughter Betty Holt and granddaughter Hannah Norris receive use of part of the house as long as they remain unmarried.
