Notes
Probate
In his will written 27 May 1824, Samuel Burge leaves to beloved wife Deborah all the wearing apparel and household goods that she brought to the marriage. In addition, during the period of minority of son Benjamin Burge, Deborah has use of the homestead farm and outland and she is to keep the fences and tools in good repair. If Deborah remarries, this use will cease. Beloved son Benjamin receives all the real estate including the homestead farm and all the lands in Francestown when he reaches age twenty-one. The exception is the dower payment to Deborah. The personal estate is to be divided among his three children daughters Anna Abbot Burge and Mary Burge and Benjamin Burge, except that each of the daughters will receive $50 more in value of the personal estate than Benjamin. As long as they remain single, daughters Anna and Mary have use of the west room and west bedroom and access to the cellar. The daughters will also receive a set of summer and winter bedding when they reach age twenty-one or marry. The blacksmith shop and tools can be sold at the executors discretion. Daughter Mary is to have benefit of the town school and three months of public school if any is kept in the town until she is eighteen. Son Benjamin is to be provided a suitable place until he is sixteen and then if he chooses a trade he can be set out to learn one by his guardian. Daniel Lewis is named sole executor.New Hampshire.
