Will
In the name of God Amen the twenty fourth day of March in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and thirty. I Joseph Thorpe of the Town of Woodbridge in the county of Middlesex in the province of East New Jersey Yoeman being very sick and weak in body but in perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the uncertainty the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed unto all men to die Do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul unto the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the descretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the general ressurection I shall raise the same again by the mighty Power of God and as touching such worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form Imprimis I give and bequeath unto Anna my dearly beloved wife all my household good and moveable Estate excepting Seven Ews and lambs Item I give unto my well beloved son Paul (Thorpe) all the neck of land that said Pauls house is built on quite up to the line my Father set between my brother Benjamin and I excepting three or four acres down by the mill from mouth of the sluce to the old Bridge and after my mill (?) that I have begun and keep it till it has paid him for his trouble and then he shall give whereto the mill Lands (?) clear up to the old Bridge and also the Damm and ? Lodge that I have of Job Conger that likewise I give to my son Jonathan Item I give unto my sons Zebulon and Job all my land on this side of the crick up to the road that leads to Rawahock meadow to be equally divided between them Item I give to my sons Job and Jonathan all my Town rights in Elizabeth Town tobe equally divided between them Item I give seven Ews and Seven lambs to my sons Zebulon and Job and Jonathan and my daughter Mary Kezia and my grandsons James and William the said seven Ews and lambs to be equally divided between them seven above mentioned and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every (?) former testaments wills legacies and Executors excepting Adam Hude and Abraham Tapin whom I constitute and ordain my only and sole Executors of this my last will and testament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my and the Seal of the day and year written above.Joseph Thorp (signature)
