On 9 February 1852, John Bailey yeoman of Chichester with his wife Betsey mortgaged part of their property in Chichester to Stephen Watson for four hundred dollars with the amount to be repaid by 1 April 1855, and the mortgage discharged on 22 October 1857. On 22 October 1857, John Bailey yeoman of Chichester, in consideration of four hundred dollars, conveyed to Madison Bailey a 20-acre parcel in Chichester. On 12 April 1861, John Bailey, in consideration of one thousand dollars, conveyed his farm with all buildings to Madison Bailey.1
