John Abbott

John attended Harvard 1784 and was an instructor at Phillips Academy in Andover. He was a professor at Bowdoin College but resigned the professorship in 1816. He was librarian at Bowdoin for 24 years. He retired from the college altogether in 1829 and spent his last years in Waterford, Maine, but at the time of his death was living with his brother in Andover. He did not marry.
