In his will written 1838 (month and day not in the will book entry) and proved 22 August 1838, Joseph Barker of Spence4r bequeathed to beloved wife Hannah the property she owned prior to the marriage. His three youngest daughters Dorcas, Clarissa, and Abigail receive fifty acres of land on the north side of the farm on which he resides except for a piece bequeathed to daughter Mary. Daughter Phebe receives bed and bedding. Daughter Polly receives the house lot occupied by Aaron Wells and the money owed by Aaron Wells. Son Joel Barker receives half an acre of land. The remainder of the estate is to be divided equally among Moses, Phebe, Lydia, Betsey, and Nancy. Elihu Butts and George K. Hall were named executors.1
