Individual Details
William Kinge
(1595 - Aft 26 Jun 1649)
William Kinge was a member of the First church at Salem, but in 1637 joined the Antinomians and came under the ban of the Salem authorities. He was requested to sever his connection with the new church or have his arms (guns) taken away from him. He remained with the new faith and gave up his gun to Lieutenant Danforth. Later he was banished for a time for sheltering the persecuted Quakers. One of his children, Katherine, married a staunch Quaker, John Swezey. William, Jr was persecuted by his community for supporting Quakers. William Hallock disinherited one of his boys for marrying one of the Quaker daughters of Katherine and converting to the Friends.

Notes
Birth
Proposed parents of William are William King born abt 1570 in either Dorset or Somerset and Ann Bowiedge born abt 1575 Weymouth, Dorsetshire.Immigration
By 1635 they had five children and decided to leave for America. They sailed onthe ship `Abigail'. Their names are found on a listing of 106 passengers, "bound for New England, Weymouth, ye 20 March 1635." This list included William Kinge, aged 40, Dorothy his wife, aged 34, Mary Kinge his daughter, aged 12, Katheryn his daughter, aged 10, William Kinge his son, aged 8, Hanna Kinge, his daughter, aged 6. This listing also helps to establish years of births for the family. There was also another son, Samuel, born about 1633-34, whose name was not on the passenger list mostly likely due to hisyoung age. I have found one history that said Samuel was listed, but either way, Sam was about two years old at the time and with his family.Although William Kinge came as part of the Hull Party, he was in Weymouth only for a short time and relocated to Salem.
