In the 1930 and 1940 census he is living in Greene, Ransom County, North Dakota.
The World War Official Roster is quoted: "Army number 4,544,337; registrant, Ransom county: born, Sheldon, N. Dak., Nov. 1, 1896 of Canadian-Scotch parents; occupation, farmer; inducted at Lisbon on Nov. 4, 1918; sent to North Dakota Agricultural College; served in Students Army Training Corps to Nov. 12, 1918; Central Officers Training School, Infantry, Camp Grant, Ill. to discharge. Discharged at Camp Grant, Ill., on Nov. 20, 1918, as a Private."

"Jonathan Lloyd "Mike" Flatt. The funeral for Jonathan Lloyd "Mike" Flatt, 98, Bethany Homes, Fargo, formerly Sheldon, N.D., will be at 11 Thursday in Immanuel United Methodist Church, Sheldon. Visitation will be from 11 to 9 Wednesday in Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin, N.D. He died Friday, April 21, 1995.
Mr. Flatt, known as Mike, was born Nov. 1, 1896, near Sheldon, on the Flatt Centennial Farm, which was established in 1890. He grew up and graduated from high school in Sheldon. He also attended NDSU. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. In September 1921 he married Rea Lillicrop in Breckenridge, Minn. She died in 1986. He worked at the Sheldon Bank for a few years. He farmed near Sheldon on the family farm in 1922. Mike served in the N.D. Senate from 1939 to 1951, lobbying for several sessions after that. He was a member of the Percy Carter American Legion Post in Sheldon for 75 years. He was also a Shriner and Jester in the Masonic Lodge. In 1985, Mike was honored by Ransom County as the Man of the Year in recognition of his community and farming accomplishments.
He is survived by three sons, Jim (Betty), Sheldon, Jack (Betty), Bend, Ore., Bill (Jan), Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Betty (Charles) Corwin, Fargo, nancy (John) Liftis, Durango, Colo.; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren."
