Rebecca (Kate) LAND
(14 Sep 1764 - 12 Aug 1854)
[Following story source is unknown as of March 2017 on FindAGrave]. "On an autumn night in 1778 just past dusk Rebecca was roused from her bed by a hand across her mouth and the face of a friendly Indian above her. He informed her that she needed to go see their loyalist neighbors the Kanes. Quietly getting dressed and crossing the river she found the farm dark and tripped over their murdered bodies. The same Indian told Rebecca that her family was the next target so she quickly made her way home and quietly roused the rest of her family who escaped to the fields before they could be found. The family then traveled to New York and then New Brunswick when evacuated."
