Agnes Janet Casanova
Agnes Janet Casanova, 76, of 1126 Sixth st., died early Saturday, April 6, at Hudson Memorial Hospital.
She had been hospitalized for a broken leg.
She was born June 20, 1908, in Platteville, the daughter of Lewis and Nellie (McClurg) McClurg. She was a graduate of Spring Valley High School and River Falls Normal School.
On Oct. 21, 1936, in St. Paul, she was married to Leonard J. Casanova, who proceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1984.
She was a third grade school teacher in the Hudson schools until her marriage.
While in Hudson she was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Hudson Hospital Auxiliary, St. Croix County Historical Society and the Ladies Guild of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Visitation was Monday, April 8, from 4 to 8 pm, with a Scripture service at 7:30 pm at Murphy Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 am Tuesday, April 9, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with th Rev. Robert E. O'Connell, pastor, officiating. Mrs. John (Elsie) Sandquist was organist and the Hope Choir sang.
Interment was in St. Patrick's cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Baumgartner, Patrick Casanova, Lester A. Jacobson, Michael Weyers, James Wolf and Maurice J. Quirk. Honorary pallbearers were K.B. Priester and Donald Wennersten.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Armstrong of Sun City, Ariz., and Mrs. Clarence (Alice) Carlson of Melvindale, Mich. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ralph McClurg and a sister, Carol Livingston.
