Henry Hess Dies; Funeral to be Friday
Henry Hess, 71 years old and a resident of Hudson for the past eight years, died at his home, 721 St. Croix street, early Wednesday mroning following a heart attack on Tuesday.
Mr. Hess was born in Fosterberg, Ill., on January 7, 1866, and migrated to western Minnesota when he was 21 years old. He later settled in Lakeland townshop, Washington county, where he was united in marriage to Lilly Brunner in 1896. Upon retiring from his farm in 1929, he moved to Hudson where he lives until he died.
During his residence in Hudson, Mr. Hess has been an active worker in the Methodist Episcopal church and the members of that congregation and his many friends in the community were deeply shocked to learn of his sudden death.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Hill, Bozeman, Montana, and Mrs. Ed Kalina, Montgomery, Minnesota; two sons, Milton, on the home farm in Lakeland township, and Ray of Bozeman, Montana; one sister, Mrs. Tracy Diez, Alton, Illinois; one brother, Fred Hess, Fosterberg, Illinois; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Present arrangements call for funeral services Friday, October 1, from the Rentz Methodist Episcopal church in Afton township, pending the arrival of a sister from Alton, Illinois. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
