Mary Etta Howland, 4th oldest child of Thaddeus and Emily Partch, was born at Durand, Illinois, Nov. 27, 1858, and died at Roberts, Wis., Aug. 25, 1940, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 29 days. When a small child she left Illinois with her family and traveled by ox team to Kansas. A few years later they moved to Burkhardt, Wis., where Mr. Partch was head cooper at the Burkhardt flour mills. When she was about 14 years old, she moved with her family to Waterford, Minn. At the age of 18, she was united in marriage to Rollen Howland of Waterfordhis union , Minn. Six years later she moved with her husband to Webster, So. Dakota, where they pioneered. Here they lived for 20 years at which time they moved to the town of Warren where she lived at the time of her deah. Mr. Howland precededher in death by 8 years and 8 months. To this union were born two children, Nellie May Reynolds and Evelyn Blanche Pratt. The latter preceded her in death by 31 years. The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Reynlds; two brothers, Martin Partch, Ottertail Lake, Minn.,and Walter Partch, Sauk Rapids, Minn; two sisters, Emma Curry, Astoria, Oregon and Sopia Soper, Baxter, Iowa.
