Kenneth Archie Hanson, 67, of St. Paul and formerly of the town of Troy, St. Croix County, died at his home, Tuesday, June 27.
He was born June 24, 1933, in the town of St. Joseph, St. Croix County, the son of Albert P. J. and Myrtle (Sargent) Hanson and graduated from Hudson High School in 1951.
While in high school he played baseball, football and took part in boxing four years receiving the Golden Gloves award.
In 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, served in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a corporal in 1954. While in the military he received a civil engineering degree.
On Jan. 1, 1960, in Whitefish, Mont., he was married to Helen Alexander.
He worked in production on oil rigs in Texas and later in the manufacture of livestock water tanks in Iowa. In 1980, after moving to St. Paul, he was employed at Specialty Engineerig, Inc., in metal fabrication. He retired in 1999.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Alexander of Bemidji, Minn.; a son, Kenneth K. (Veronique) Hanson of Springfield, Ohio; his mother, Myrtle Hanson of Hudson; a brother Wayne B. Hanson of Hudson; a sister, Beverly M. (Stewart) Bronfeld of Westport, Conn.; a special friend, Shirley Staples and his dog, Bennie.
Funeral services were Monday, July 3, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson with Pastor JoAnn Sorenson officiating. At the service Monica Weekes was organist and Gloria Gaynor, vocalist.
Burial was in the family lot in Houlton Cemetery where casketbearers were Wayne Hanson, Kenneth K. Hanson, Norman Smith, Patrick Peters, Ralph Bradshaw and Paul Bradshaw.
