Axel "Archie" Arthur Carlson, 78, of 317 Twelfth St. S., died Satuday afternoon, Sept. 8, at Hudson Memorial hospital.
He was born Sept. 2, 1906, in Hudson, the sone of Charles Julius and Hulda Elise (Nillsson) Carlson and was graduated from the eighth grade at Northline school.
He was employed as a repairman in the car shops for the Omaha railroad in North Hudson in the 1930s and early 1940s. In 1948 he started farming south of Burkhardt, where the Willow River State Park is now located. He sold the farm in 1974 and moved to Hudson.
He was married to Mary Katherine Ritzer Oct. 17, 1936. She preceded him in death April 8, 1962. In 1963 he married Genevieve Gartmann but they were later divorced.
He is survived by a brother, Leonard and a sister, Bertha Carlson, both of 317 Twelfth St. S.
Services were Sept. 11 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Interment was in Willow River cemetery.
