Services for Leona Stepp, 84, of Canton, Texas, were scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Eubank Chapel with Brother Jim Everidge and Brother Mike Baldwin officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Leona passed away August 17, 2009 in Tyler, Texas.
She was born March 19, 1925, in Miles City, Montana, to Leo P. and Ethel Crosby Teigon Welborn. She grew up in Montana and married V. C. Stepp in 1943, while he was stationed there during WWII. After the war they moved to Wills Point and finally settled in Athens where they lived until moving to Canton one year ago. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Athens and past member of the Athens Riding Club. She loved animals, gardening and was an avid doll collector. She frequented First Monday, but most of all she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Dennis Stepp and a grandson Danny.
Surviving are her husband V. C. Stepp of Canton, Texas; five sons and daughters-in-law: Kerry and Tina Stepp of Athens, Texas, Danny and Patty Stepp of Garland, Texas, Shane and Linda Stepp of Athens, Texas, Richard and Becky Stepp of Athens, Texas, David and Rita Stepp of Athens, Texas, daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Edward Looney of Myrtle Springs, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Burial will be in Haven of Memories in Canton, Texas.
Leona Stepp visited Jordan on several occasions when she came to see her mother, who will be remembered here as Ethel Welborn.
