Hans Hendrik Jenson

(12 Mar 1840 - 31 Oct 1905)

Hans Hendrik Jenson is the first known child of Jens Henrik Hansen and Zakarine Olsdatter. His birth is recorded in Hemnes churchbook. "Born 12 Mar 1840, baptized 3 May 1840, Hans Hendrik, illegimate, father is Jens Hansen and mother is Zakarine Oldsdatter of Storbjerka. Witnesses - Andreas Johnson, Arnt Johnson, Ellen Johnsdtr, Storbjerka, Dorthea Gullesd., Brevig, Hans [?], Christine Olsdtr., Storbjerka."
He is eighteen years older than Nels (Grandpa Jenson).
He immigrated in 1891, accompanying Nels' wife, Jensine, and the three youngest of Nels' children, Karine, Axel and Nels, Jr. Two years later, on September 30, 1893 in Hudson, he married Thea Petrusdatter, also a Norwegian emigrant.
Hans hasn't been located in the 1895 or 1900 censuses. In 1905 the family consisting of wife, Thea, sons Marcus and Henry, and daughter Aagotte, reside in the village of Spring Valley. Hans' occupation is carpenter. Number of months employed was left blank. Thea is a laundress and has been employed at that for the previous 12 months. Hans' health may not have been good. His death certificate issued five months later gives the cause of death as chronic nephitis.
