Beulah O'Connor

Beulah first came to Jordan in the 1950's to visit a friend and was in Lewistown when Watson Foster asked her to fill in at the drug store, about 1956. Pretty soon she felt "at home" in Jordan and has stayed ever since.

O'Connor-Saylor Vows Spoken
In a quiet ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church in Billings, with the Rev.Wells officiating, Beulah O'Connor of Jordan was united in marriage to Jerome Saylor of Brusett. Mrs. Ruth Stanton and Boyd Issac were the attendants. The close friends of the couple who attended the wedding were an aunt of the bride,Mrs. Lydia Dewing of Billings; Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Isaac and Ruth Stanton.

Marjory Beulah Saylor
Marjory Beulah Saylor, age 88, of Jordan, Montana passed away on Friday, November 30, 2001 at the Garfield County Health Center in Jordan.
Beulah as she was known to her friends and family was born on May 14, 1913 at Belfry, Montana. She graduated from High School there after serving as editor of her school paper during all of her high school years. After attending college, she was married to George O'Connor and they moved to Fromberg, Montana. At the time, George was president of Montana Power Company and was in the legislature for many years. During her time in Fromberg, Beulah worked in the O'Connor grocery store, owned by his parents. In the early 1950's, she moved from Fromberg coming to Jordan with her good friend, Ruth Viall Gallinger Stanton. She soon went to work for Foster Drug Company, a job she worked at and enjoyed for many years.
She also helped Jim and Margaret Viall, as a receptionist when they owned the Garfield Hotel here in Jordan.
She married Jerome Saylor on June 28, 1961, and together they continued ranching until his death un 1994.
Beulah was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Jordan. She taught Sunday School at the Presbyterian Church, bringing many young people through her classes. She enjoyed young people and liked to talk to them about the things that interested them, and to learn more about them. She spent a month each summer with her mother, who was an invalid, traveling to Oregon, so that her sister could take a vacation. She had a very caring nature, and always took time for everyone, especially the young children. One of her favorite times was when the young children came to the door at Halloween and she could hand out candy. She spent much of her time calling many of her special friends throught the months and years. Beulah always had a smile as she enjoyed life to the fullest. She aslo had time for studying the bible and visiting with friends as they stopped by.
Beulah was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sister-in-laws: Melba Saylor Currey and husband Jack, of Jordan, Montana, Abblie Saylor Hill of Anderson, California, and a brother-in-law, Walter Saylor and wife Eloise of Jordan, Montana as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerome Saylor, and a sister, Patricia.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 4, at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Neva Rathbun and Rev. John Bilbro presiding. Music was provided by Jackie Currey playing "Just a Closer Walk With Thee", "What A Friend We Have in Jesus", "Beyond the Sunset", and "In the Garden".
Pallbearers were Glen Galliger, Art Gallinger, John McKeever, Gerrit Wille, John Bilbro. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Withee and Bill Dutton and all of Beulah's friends and family.
Graveside rights were held at the Pioneer Cemetery, and a luncheon followed at the VFW Hall. Arrangements were made by Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Jordan.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of their choice.
