Accident Claims Life of John E. Anderson
John E. Anderson, 41, of Anaconda, was wounded in a hunting accident on
November 3, near Deer Lodge. He died Sunday night, November 17, in a Missoula
hospital.
According to reports, he had been hunting with his brothers and a Deer Lodge
man, when a gun fell from a rack in the truck and discharged. The bullet went
through his left hand and the left side of his head. He was first taken to a
Deer Lodge hospital and then transferred to Missoula for surgery. He was
apparently recovering but had to undergo surgery a second time and failed to
regain consciousness.
He was born in Jordan on February 6, 1927 and had lived in Anaconda since 1955.
He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Catholic Church, the
Teamsters Union, International Association of Machinists. He was employed as a
teamster at Warm Springs State Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; children Thomas and Tamara, of Anaconda; father,
John E. Anderson of Jordan; mother, Mrs. Pearl Davis, Anaconda; brothers,
Alfred, Louis, Walter and Tago, all of Anaconda and Raymond, Beaverton, Oregon;
sisters, Mrs. Ray Scott, Anaconda; Mrs. Harold McDowell, Lost Creek; Mrs. James
Brown, Portland; Mrs. Herb Bluhm, Gaston, Oregon; Mrs. Elmer Trumbo, Jordan;
Mrs. Caroline Rowland, Missoula; Mrs. John Williams, Yelm, Washington; and many
nephews and nieces.
Burial was at Hill Cemetery in Anaconda with Finnigan Company Funeral Chapel
handling the arrangements on the 21st of November.
