Mildred Hakseth, daughter of Charles and Hulda, told Art in 1995 that her mother was born in Sweden about 1880 or 1881 and came to the U.S., she thought, at about age 24 or 25. Hulda died in April 1959.
Belle Collins Dornbos told Art that the marriage between Hulda and Charles lasted only a short time and that they were separated at the time of Mildred's birth.
Hulda is found as the wife of Chas. O. Hawkinson, living in Harris, Chisago county, in the 1910 Federal census. She is 29 years old, this is her first marriage, she was born in Sweden and emigrated to the U.S. in 1904.
