Miss Anna Riedel of Nurnberg, Germany and Robert Friend of this city were married at St. Patrick's church Thursday morning, October 27, by Rev. Msgr. Barney. [missing] bride and Robert Gartmann attended the groom. They have made their home at the residence of the groom, Fourth and Vine streets. The bride was a former resident of Hudson and the many friends of both extend congratulations.

Mrs. Robert Friend and her daughter, Frances, will leave on an extended tour of Europe shortly after the 15th of May. Mrs. Friend, whose birthplace is Germany, was a resident of that country during the last war and is returning to visit with members of her family and to renew old acquaintances.

Mrs. Robert Friend, formerly of 624 Fourth St., Hudson, died suddenly Friday morning, October 19, at the River Falls Nursing Home.
The daughter of Balfazan and Sophie (Letterer) Riedel, she was born on October 15, 1876 in Rotenburg, Bayern, Germany. As a young girl she came to the United States with her brother, Edward, but returned to her native land after several years.
On October 27, 1921 she was united in marriage to Robert Friend and came to Hudson to live. Her husband preceded her in death on October 13, 1955.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church and Parish Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances (Mrs. Raymond Thome), Hudson, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Robert Friend, Jr., Kankakee, Illiinois, a son-in-law, Raymond Thome of Hudson and a sister in Germany, and two grandchildren.
Requiem mass was Monday, October 22, at 9 a.m. with Rev. James S. Griffin officiating. Interment was in St. Patrick's cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alfred Larsen, Eugene Beaudry, Roland, Leonard, Arthur and Frederick Riedel.
Funeral arrangements were by Kramer Funeral Home.
