PARENTS and SIBLINGS:
Theodore Larsen (28Oct1888 - 20 Jun1962) and Pearl Vaughn (11Jul1895 -
8May1967) are both buried at Sunrise. Her sister, Ruby (1916-1986) and
husband, Karle Hammargren (1911-1987) are buried in Oak Grove at Harris.

OBITUARY: Rush City Post
Harriet Lucille Hawkinson Block was born July 5, 1917 in Sunrise,
the daughter of Theodore and Pearl Larson. She spent her early years in the
Sunrise and Harris areas, attending the Harris School and graduating with her
class July 18, 1931.
On June 27, 1936 Harriet married Harry Hawkinson and to this union four
daughters were born: Karin, Lorna, June and Sue. The Hawkinson family moved to
Rush City in December 1947 and shortly thereafter Harriet started working at
the Rush City Hospital. She was employed there for a number of years giving
lots of tender loving care to the patients.
She continued helping people by starting a used clothing shop in the
basement of their home in 1957. (In those days garage sales were uncommon.)
Harriet's other hobbies included fishing, traveling, sewing and crocheting.
On April 11, 1981 she married Edwin Block and they also made their home in
Rush City.
Harriet died at home Sunday, November 15, 1987 at the age of 70. She is
survived by her husband, Ed; daughters and sons-in-law: Karin and Curt Barker
of Harris; Lorna Johnson of Cambridge; June and Louis Lilie of Quamba; Sue and
Steve Haavisto of Pine City; grandchildren: Mike, Ron and Jim Barker; Linda
Olson; Debra Jensen; Shelia, Steven and Cory Johnson; Bill Lilie; Jennifer,
Sarah and Anna Haavisto; great grandchildren: Brandy and Andrew Barker; Troy
and Trent Anderson; Stephanie Olson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry
Hawkinson, sister Ruby Hammargren and brother Merle Larson.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Tom O. Miller at the Olson
Funeral Chapel in Rush City Nov. 18. Music was provided by organist Doris
Swanson and soloist Joyce Benson. Honorary casket bearers were Harriet's
grandsons; casket bearers were: Jan Larson, Barry Wendt, Harlan Krinke, Art
Hawkinson, Al Jamesgaard and Gilford Hanson. Interment was in Oak Grove
Cemetery, Harris.
