Alma Johnson, 85, a resident of the Baldwin Care Center, who formerly lived at 417 Orange St., Hudson, died at the care center Thursday, June 8. She had been in Baldwin since September 1988.
Alma Marie Johnson was born Nov. 21, 1903, at Avoca, the daughter of Iver and Lena (Peterson) Johnson. Her parents moved to Hudson when she was a youngster and she attended Northline School.
For many years she was dental assistant/secretary for Dr. Leo L. Petersen. After his death she was a clerk at Olson's Department Store until it closed in 1978.
In her retirement, she was able to pursue her love of gardening and flowers. She was an inveterate walker, making a trip to and from the downtown area sometimes several times a day, always meeting friends and neighbors. She enjoyed music and had been a faithful member of the choir at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Survivors are a nephew, Gerald A. Johnson of Hudson; 12 grandnieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Adolph (Olga) Johnson of Baldwin. A special friend is Hattie Sveen, Hudson. A niece, Lorraine Johnson Heebink, of Baldwin, died the day after Miss Johnson's death.
Services were Saturday, June 10, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson, with the Rev. L. Donald Docken officiating. Organist during the service was Monica Weeks and vocal solist, Richard N. Larsen.
Interment was in the family lot in Willow River Cemetery, where Jason and Jeffrey Johnson, Jeffrey Brunett, John Krupa, Bent Linder and Brad Boardman were pallbearers.
O'Connell's Valley Funeral Home was in charge of arragements.
