Write-up in the Historical Museum in Marshalltown, Iowa: He settled in Marshall County, Iowa in 1882, is a veteran of the civil War, having enlisted in Co. F, 20th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, April 20, 1861. He served faithfully until May 1862, when on account of disability he was honorably discharged. He is now Vice commander of G.A.R., Andersonville Post, No. 155 of Beaman, Iowa and bears an honorable record for brave service in the cause of freedom and union, and in the paths of peace has won an enviable reputation through the sterling qualities which go to the making of a good citizen.
