WILL: DATED 5 DEC 1785 AND PROBATED 10 APRIL 1787 AND RECORDED IN LOUDOUNCOUNTY, VIRGINIA WILL BOOK "C" PAGE 268..."I ELLEN MEAD, OF THE COUNTY OFLOUDOUN, COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, MAKE THIS MY LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT...IGIVE UNTO MY FIVE DAUGHTERS HANNAH THOMAS, MARY BROWN, ANN MEAD, MARTHA WRIGHT,AND ELIZABETH POTTS ALL MY LAND IN PENNSYLVANIA WHICH FELL TO ME BY THE DEATH OF MY SISTER, MARY BROWN TO BE EQUALLY DIVIDED BETWEEN THEM. MY WILL AND DESIRE IS THAT MY DAUGHTER, ANN MEAD HAVE ONE LARGE HOG, FIVE BUSHELLS OF WHEAT, FIVE BUSHELLS OF RYE FOR HER MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT. (Research):By the will of his father, he inherited an undivided half interest in the homestead farm and mill. He married Elizabeth Mead, in 1769. The marriage was accomplished contrary to Friends discipline, and in consequence they lost membership. Elizabeth was a daugher of William and Ellen Mead, formerly of Wales.
