2 Feb 1705; From James Wheeler, Planter, to John Middleton, Planter "Wheeler's Purchase" in Prince George's Co., formerly Charles Co., 200 acres (PGLR C. 156)

In 1705/6 John Wilkinson acquired from James Wheeler and William Hutchison, of Prince George's County, 200 acres of land called "Wheeler's Purchase" lying on the east side of the Piscataway and the mouth of St John's Creek at an Indian town called Pamunkey, adjoining the land of Luke Gardiner. It had been granted to John Wheeler, the grandfather of the grantor, who by his will of 1694, had devised portions to his three grandchildren, James the party to the deed, John, and Ann Wheeler who later married Hilleary Ball.

Page 657. Land Commission. Lord Baltimore ... The depositions were taken on the Jan 31, [1742/43] on the sd tract of land, which is on the south side of Piscataway Cr.
James Wheeler, aged about 58 years, declares that Messrs Jones or Edward or Francis Marbury told this deponent that the afd locust was a bounded tree between Francis Marbury and William Hutchenson, but can't remember which of the 3 persons it was that told him and that this deponent believes it has been about 40 years ago he was told that the sd locust was a bounded tree.

The 3 Commissioners, on Nov 15, [1743] repaired to sd tract of land, which is on the north side of Mattawoman Main Fresh between where Mr. Henry Massey now lives, & George [Blank] Plantation (where now lives Thomas Foster) took the following depositions -
James Wheeler, age about 60, declares that the sd bounded tree was shown him by Jeremiah Snell, about 26 years ago, to be the first bound tree of the sd Snell's land, and this deponent says that Jeremiah Snell never owned any other land, to his knowledge, but the land called Conveniency, & further, this deponent says that Timothy Mahorn, decd, told him that the afd tree was the first bound tree of Jeremiah Snell's land, & likewise, the first bound tree of James Gambins land.

Ball, Hilary, m. by 2 Feb 1705,. Ann, sister of James Wheeler (PGLR C, 156). She was a widow of John Wheeler (PGLR C:175). (She had to have been the sister, otherwise, the dates don't work. NJL)
