(5 Jan 1777 - 20 Jun 1842)
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION - Kolb, Olive Lewis, Worland, Wilfrid V., and Worland, Rev. T. Vincent, One Man’s Family, The History and Genealogy of the Worland Family in America 1662-1962 (Shelbyville, Indiana: The Authors, 1968) FHL Book 929.273 W893
Sometimes called Bernard in the old records, doubtless from his nickname Barney. Barnaby and his brother thomas seem to have been very closely associated until Thomas and all his family moved to Shelby County, Indiana. That they ever saw each other again seems doubtful. Barnaby experienced many tragedies in his personal life. His first wife, Thresa Hardy, died in 1816 leaving him with four children. They lost three. His second wife, Cecelia Gough, lived only ten years after their marriage and left Barnaby with three more children. His third wife, Catherine Deering, survived him with daughters of her own and later gave birth to a posthumouse baby, Barniellen. Barnaby's oldest son, George L. died before his father and had a sad life himself.
During the 1830's some of Barnaby's friends and relatives moved to Monroe County, Missouri. Barnaby's youn brother-in-law and sister-in-law Georg B. Gough and Rebecca wre among them. In Sep 1840, Barnaby sold his farms and followed them to Monroe County, where he lived only two more years.
Many of Barnaby's descendeants have lived in Monroe County and adjacent Shelby County, but the worland names persists only in the descendants of John Henry worland and James Guy Worland.
NOTE - Barnaby was also married to a Celilia Gough. This marriage occurred between his marriage to Teresa Worland and Catharine Deering Previous researchers have stated it took place in Franklin County, Kentucky. Research of this marriage will be done at a later time.
