Charles County Land Record Book O#3, 1765-1770; Page 347. Bill of Sale. I, Michl Hines Robey, owe Samuel Hanson 2014 lbs of crop tobacco in 2 hhds & the costs on an actn against him, with interest, and wanting to make sd Hanson all satisfaction in my power towards the of part thereof, do, by these presents, sell to sd Hanson, 2 cows, 1 heifer & 3 yearlings (1 of sd cows bought of Henry Padget),6 hogs, a black mare about 8 years old which he had of Benja Lovelace branded TD, 1 horse colt, 1 feather bed, 1 bolster, 1. rug, 1 pair plankets [sic], 1 pair sheets, 1 bedstead, cord, & hide, 7 old feather bed & covering, 2 pewter dishes, 6 ditto plates, & 2 pewter basins, 2 pots, 1 frying pan, together with all the rest of his estate. Sd Hanson intends to let the articles afd remain for some time in the poosession of sd Mich Hines Roby, and which sd Roby obliges himself to deliver to sd Hanson, under penalty of 4028 lbs of tobacco, barring accidents of death and other casualties. Roby agrees that, at the option of Hanson, this bill of sale will stand for security or to have recourse to sd Roby for the payment of his bond, entered into today, for the afd sum.
