HALL OF RECORDS COMMISSION DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES STATE OF MARYLAND Will book E. folios 125 - 126 Montgomery County, MD-Date of Record 24 December 1804 Will of Bennett Hanson Clements In the name of God amen, I, Bennett Hanson Clements of Montgomery County & State of Maryland being sick of body but of perfect mind & memory blessed be God therefore do make & constitute this my last will & testament in manner & form following that is to say I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me & my body to the earth from whence it came in hopes of a joyful resurrection through the merits of my Savior Jesus Christ & as far as what worldly estate it hath pleased God to bless me I leave in this manner & form following. Item, I give & bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Charity Clements my Negro man called Dos, a Negro girl called Jenny, one bed - bedstead & furniture being the bed she sleeps on, one three feet oval table, six chairs, all of the China delf & glass ware belonging to a tea set, the water vessels belonging to the kitchen, two Iron pots,her choice, two Iron pot racks, one tea kettle, one Wolin wheel, one dutch oven, six killable hogs, her choice, when fat, one sow & pigs, four ewes, six knives & forks, best kinde, one black horse, called Dob, one cow & one calf, one large Tea cannister, one small Ditto, one Small Sawer & it is my will & desire if she dies before my daughter Ann, her feather bed & furniture & Negro girl falls to my said daughter Ann & the balance of her Estate to be equally divided amongst my other Children that will be living at that time & her two Daughters Sary Smith & Mary Hoggins. I also leave her twenty Barrels of Corn, ten bushels of wheat to be delivered to her in the month of December. Item. I give & bequeath unto my daughter Martha Clements one Negro boy called Hary, a small girl called Sarah, one bed - bedstead & furniture being the bed she sleeps on one cow & calf, one Linnin Wheel, three chairs. Item, I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Clements, one Negro Woman called Allay, one Negro boy called Frank, one cow & calf, one gray hors, one bed - bedstead & furniture, one tea cord, one small tea Canister, one iron pot & pot rack, one Linnin Wheel, one coffee mill & if she dies without a lawful heir the whole of what I have bequeath her to be equally divided amongst all my children that will be living at that time. I leave my Negro Man Jack to be sold for money to pay my debts & the overplus if any to my Executors. Item, I leave & bequeath unto my daughter Mildred Medlay's two sons, Basil Medlay & Thomas Medlay one dollar each. Item, I leave & bequeath unto my daughter Mary Bowin (of Bow's) children one dollar each. Lastly the balance of me Estate I leave to my four sons, Basil, William, Wilford & Gustavis Clements to be equally divided between the four brothers.
