James Burson floats a boat down the Mohongahela, Ohio, and Mississippi, with a load of flour, selling it at New Orleans and realizing a profit of $800.He returned by boat to Philadelphia, then overland to Tenmile.
Taking the $800, he and his brother David walk from Waynesburg to Steubenville, Ohio, where he bought 160 acres of land at $1.25 an acre. he then followed the blazed trail of the surveyors to new land near Lisbon, Ohio.
