Death
George (Bill) Hughes, 82, died in his sleep about 3 a.m. Wednesday in the homeof a daughter, Mrs. Stella Furr, in Waynetown. He had been in ill health five
years. He was a Ripley Township native. Born Feb. 21, 1880 to Elbert and Nancy
Ellis Hughes. He was married in 1921 to Mrs. Gladys Ingersoll, who preceded him
in death. Mr. Hughes was a member of the Ridge Farm Christian Church. He lived
in Ripley Township until his married, then in Wayne Township near Waynetown
until he retired from farming. He moved to Attica in 1936 and managed filling
stations there until 12 years ago when he returned to this community. Surviving
are two daughters, Mrs. Furr and Mrs. Mary Kyle of Spokane, Wash.; a
stepdaughter, Mrs. Sara Simpson of Rt. 1 Waynetown, and four grandchildren. A
son, Wilbert E., and two brothers are deceased. Funeral services are announced
for 2 p.m. Friday at the Servies Funeral Home, with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine
officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at
the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.
