Death
Mint Spring - Violet Phillips Knicely, 77, of Mint Spring died Sunday morning in Tampa, Fla. while visiting her daughter. She was born Nov 11, 1899 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Frank S. and Mary M. Rodeffer Phillips. Mrs. Knicely was a member of Staunton Church of the Brethren. She was employed by Genesco 20 years before retiring. Her husband, Bernard Clyde Knicely, died Oct 5, 1971. She is survived by four sons, Vic and B. C. Knicely both of Churchville, Carroll F. Knicely of Glasgow, Ky. and Larry Knicely of Mint Spring; a daughter Rosebud K. Krotts [Crotts] of Tampa, a brother, Theodore R. Phillips of Mt. Crawford; three sisters, Vedah P. Cline of Oakton, Ethel P. Calhoun of Port Republic, and Helen R. Knopp of Staunton; 15 grandchildren, and nine great-granchhildren. The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hamrick Funeral Home in Staunton by the Rev. Alton L. McDaniel. Burial will be in Mill Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
