Earl Cline Diehl, 64, a member of the sales staff of the Wetsel Seed Co. for some years and formally a farmer in the Weyers Cave community, died Sunday morning at 8:30 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital after an illness of three months. The Diehl home is at 254 West Market St. He was a son of the late I. S. and Ida Cline Diehl and was born in Rockingham county near Weyers Cave. He was engaged in farming until he moved to Harrisonburg. He was active member of the Harrisonburg Church of the Brethren and was also a member of the Weyers Cave Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ocie [Icie} Huff; one daughter, Mrs. G. W. Crosby, of Staunton, and five sons, Leon H. Diehl, Mt. Sidney; Dallas C., Donald S., and Earl C. Diehl Jr., Silver Spring, Md.; and I. W. Diehl, Timberville. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Nina Trobaugh, of Staunton, and Mrs. Earl Cline, of McGaheysville. Funeral services will be held from the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren at Weyers Cave Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock, the Rev. I.S. Long and Dr. Robert L. Sherfy officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery there. The boy will be moved from the Hamrick funeral home at Staunton to the Diehl residence here Monday and will be placed in the church an hour before the service Tuesday.
