Death

William H. Filler, 68, a former resident of Harrisonburg and a native of the Cross Keys community, died at 8:40 Saturday evening at the Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore. Mr. Filler was born on July 25, 1892 near Cross Keys and spent his early life in this community. He later resided in Harrisonburg. Mr. Filler was engaged in the automobile business and also operated a garage. He was at one time engaged in bus transportation. He was a former member of the Friedens Church and was a member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Baltimore. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Wichael, and four children, John Filler and Joe Filler, both of California; and Mrs. Marie Butner, of Baltimore; and James Preston Wichael, of Harrisonburg; one brother, Robert Filler, of Mt. Crawford; and two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Gambill, of Harrisonburg; and Mrs. Lucy Meyerhoeffer, of Cross Keys. Mr. Filler was a frequent visitor here. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday morning from the chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Dickson W. Taylor in charge. Burial will be in the Cross Keys Cemetery. The members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, 7:30 to 8:30. Relatives, friends, and pallbearers will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 Wednesday morning. Active pallbearers will be Dorsey Gilmore, Joe Furr, Harold Furr, Athel Furr, Warren Lee Furr, and Harry Lee Stover.
