Death
Billy Lee Furr, 61, of Woodstock, VA passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Winchester Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1952 in Warrenton, VA, a son of Betty Furr Roberts and the late William Furr. In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his grandson, Jackson Kent Sawyer; four brothers, Lonnie, Roger, Johnny and Harrison Furr and two sisters, Margaret Furr and Linda Shifflett. Mr. Furr was a general contractor in the Northern Virginia area for the majority of his life. When he was a young adult, he started his career in Warrenton, VA doing odd jobs for friends of his family. Over the years, Mr. Furr became well known in the area for his attention to detail and hard work. His professionalism and dedication were the cornerstone of his business, Furr Construction. Whether it be building a home or some other remodeling job, Mr. Furr took pride in his work and often enjoyed discussing his career with his friends. Mr. Furr attended Valley Gospel Church in Mauertown, VA where he was a faithful member. His hobbies included, fishing, working in the garden, working on odds and ends around the house, listening to old gospel and country music and anything else that would keep him occupied and in the sunshine. In his later years, Mr. Furr worked as a maintenance engineer at the Perry House in Woodstock, VA. There he made many life long friends and was well liked by all of his co-workers. Mr. Furr was most certainly a hard worker and a gentle hearted man who tried to see the best in everyone. His love for his granddaughter was unlike any other and he took great pride in his family. In addition to his mother, Billy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Anna Furr; son, Raymond Furr of Vilseck, Germany; daughter, Sara Sawyer of Amissville and granddaughter, Brianna Sawyer; brothers, Roy Furr (Connie) of Amissville, Ray Furr (Leasa) of Oklahoma, sisters, Betty Jane Woods of Lake of the Woods , Mary Long of Culpeper, and Billy's step-father, Donald Roberts. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Moser Funeral Home where a service will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
