Death
Bessie Diehl Flory, 97, of Grottoes, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at the Stuarts Draft Christian Home. Mrs. Flory was born Feb. 13, 1908, in Port Republic, and was a daughter of the late Arthur and Rebecca Long Diehl. She was a member of the Middle River Church of the Brethren and was active in the New Hope Home Demonstration Club. Her husband, Charles Edward Flory, preceded her in death Jan. 20, 1990. She is survived by a son, Garland Flory of Grottoes; a sister, Anna Furr of Stuarts Draft; three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. The Rev. David Whitten will conduct a graveside service 10 a.m. Thursday at the Middle River Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grottoes Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1187, Grottoes, VA 24441. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes.Endnotes
