Death

Mrs. Gwinnette Leake Furr, 69, of Harrisonburg, died at her home on Friday morning, Sept. 3, 2004. She was born on Aug. 16, 1935, in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ellen Webster Leake. Mrs. Furr graduated from Harrisonburg High School. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert A. Furr Jr. Also surviving are a son, Robert Steven Furr of Leesburg; a daughter, Amy Furr Goodman of Seattle, Wash.; three granddaughters, Sara Nicole Furr, Anne Grace Goodman and Katie Marie Goodman; two stepgranddaughters, Kelley Robinson and Ryan Goodman; five sisters, Annabell Fawley and Joan Grandle, both of Harrisonburg, Andrea Rhodes of Broadway, Sandra Crippen of Great Falls, Va., and Constance Knupp of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Olin Leake of Harrisonburg, Donald Leake of Orange, Va., and Dennis Leake of Florence, S.C. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cornell, Jimmy and Aubrey Leake. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Jim Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The casket will be closed. Memorial contributions may be made to the RMH Cancer Center, 100 E.
