Death
Mary Jean Blake, age 87, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at her home. Funeral Services for Mary will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Tom Dennis officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. Mary was born on February 16, 1926 in Stumptown, West Virginia, the daughter of Walter and Mabel (Bennett) Furr. She married Estel "Percy" Blake on March 16, 1947 in Barberton, OH. Mary and Percy owned and operated Central Tire Store for 50 years and managed the Greyhound Bus Station. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Community Church. Mary loved to bowl and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 2012. She was also a dedicated golfer, hunter, and fisher. She golfed in 3 leagues a week into her mid eighty's. Mary adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was famous for her peanut butter fudge and grilled cheese sandwiches. Mary is survived by her children, Susan (Chris) Rader of Mt. Pleasant, Mike (Vickie) Blake of Mt. Pleasant, Jennie (Dan) Willey of Midland, and Sheila (Scott) Bishop of Freeland; 11 grandchildren, Michael (fiance Sharon Johnson) Higgins, Shannon (Carlos) DeLeon, Eric Higgins, Ashleigh (Jesse) Lampro, Trevor Blake, Michael Woolen-Blake, Sara (Jeff) Spangler, Jody Willey, Sam Bishop, Jeff Bishop, and Jamie Singler, 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Blake, Aliyah, Logan, Madison, Seth, Ellie, Nick, and Cody; brothers, James Furr and Caroll Furr; and sister, Maggie Gregory. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Percy in 1995.
