On Tuesday, December 9, 2003, DORTHA REA FURR of Silver Spring, MD, wife of Ferrell W. Furr. Also survived by two children, Susan Furr Gellert and husband, Charles, of Washington, DC and Ferrell Windsor Furr and wife, Susan of Laurel, MD; grandchildren, Jesse and Chana Gellert; sisters, Ira Belle Bowers, Imogene Cagle and Nadine McElhinney. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, December 15, 2003 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at THE MURIEL H. BARBER FUNERAL HOME, 21525 Laytonsville Rd.,(MD Rt 108), Laytonsville, MD. Death
Ferrell Winfield " Fuzzy" Furr passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Friends House in Sandy Spring, MD at the age of 93. He was born in West Union, WV on August 18, 1920 to Marie Katherine Kinney Furr and Olen Laco Furr. Mr. Furr was an electrical contractor for many years in the D.C. area where he settled following his service in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. His home and business were in Ashton, MD. Following retirement and moving to Leisure World, he attended the University of Maryland receiving a Bachelors degree in history in 1994, fulfilling a lifelong dream of attending college. Activities at Leisure World in his later years included photography and dancing. Mr. Furr was pre-deceased by his wife of 57 years, Dortha Rea Windsor Furr, in 2003, and by his brother, Olen Laco Furr, Jr., and sister, Winifred Jozwick. He is survived by his daughter, Susie Gellert (Charlie) of Laytonsville, MD, son, Ferrell Windsor Furr (Susan) of Laurel, MD and grandchildren, Jesse Gellert and Chana Gellert. He is also survived by his sister, Avanelle Carder of Indianapolis, Indiana. Arrangements are pending inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery.
