Death

E. Thurston Furr, 59, a Washington area wholesale poultry dealer, died yesterday at Arlington Hospital after a heart attack. Mr. Furr, with his brother, had owned and operated Furr Bros. Poultry at 135 R street S.W. since 1929. Born in Waterford, Va., he moved to Arlington in 1912. He first worked with Gayle Pugh Poultry and then Hickman Co. Poultry of Washington, both now out of business. Mr. Furr and his brother organized their own wholesale poultry warehouse when Hickman Co. went out of business in 1929. He was a member of the Washington Golf and Country Club. He was also a member of the Washington branch of the Food Services Executives Association. Inc., and served as its, welfare chairman. He worked actively in local welfare services, annually donating the use of his warehouse facilities as a food distribution, center for needy children at Thanksgiving and Christmas. A sportsman, Mr. Furr was an ardent golfer, bowler and dancer. He leaves his wife Roalia of the home address, 2505 North Upland street, Arlington; his brother, W. Rex, of 3716 South Ninth street, Arlington; his mother, Mrs. W. E. Furr, of Arlington; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Loy, of Arlington, and four daughters, Helen and Diana, of the home address, and Mrs. Virginia Darnell and Mrs. Barbara Honaker, both of Arlington. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Ives Funeral Home, Arlington, with burial in Columbia Gardens Cemetery.
