Death
Mrs. Emma Rebecca Furr, wife of John Furr, died Saturday morning, April, 21, at 1:00 o'clock. Death followed a very brief illness, altho Mrs. Furr had been in poor health for some time. She was up Friday attending to her household duties. Her maiden name was also Furr and she was born in Shelby county, being 65 years one day old at the time of death. Practically her entire life was spent in the county. She and Mr Furr were married in 1872 and they have resided in Strasburg for 30 or 35 years. Very early in life Mrs. Furr united with the Methodist church, and she was one of the charter members of the Strasburg congregation in 1887. Besides the husband, she leaves one brother, Sampson Furr of Shelbyville, and two sisters, Mrs. Ann Durst and Mrs. Maria Beck of Strasburg. Rev. Ralph C. Jones conducted funeral services Monday forenoon at the Methodist church, burial being in Grace cemetery. The singing was by the church choir; the pallbearers were Wm. Spannagel, V. H. Smith, M.S. Maynard, A.M. Boling, J.B. Backensto and A.C. Duling. Among those at the services were Mrs. Lucy Beaman of Indianapolis, John Durst and family of Hammond.Shelby County News-Gazette, Windsor, Illinois, April 26, 1917
