Death
Mr. Kenneth L. Holeman, 92, of Galesburg, Ill., died at 3:52 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Cottage Hospital. He was born June 12, 1921, in Swan Creek, Ill. the son of Ray and Daisy Furr Holeman. He married Erma Speck May 17, 1943, she preceded him in death Aug. 7, 1989. He married Freda Tucker in Galesburg, Ill., on Feb. 15, 1992. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Freda; one son, Michael and Candy Holeman of Oquawka, Ill.; one daughter, Cindy and Joe Johnson of Kewanee, Ill.; two step daughters, Carol and Jerry Hajek of Naperville, Ill., and Lisa Bennett of Galesburg, Ill.; two sisters, Katherine Metcalf of Burlington, Iowa, and Virginia Henry of West Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1939 and moved to Galesburg in 1955. He owned and operated Galesburg Tire Company for 40 years and later was in charge of maintenance at Jumer's Continental Inn for 10 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Junior Jaycees. He volunteered for Food Lift at Galesburg Cottage Hospital and loved woodworking and restoring antiques. Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday May 28, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Glen Bocox officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.
