Death
Elsie M. Furr, 89, St. Joseph, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1993, at a local health-care center. Born in Holton, Kan., Mrs. Furr lived most of her life in St. Joseph. She had retired from nursing, having been employed at the former Methodist Hospital. Mrs. Furr was a member of the King Hill United Methodist Church, and the Themis Sunday School class of the church. She also belonged to the Star Fish Organization and the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. In 1875, Mrs. Furr was presented the Four Way Test Award by the South Side Rotary Club. She married Howard B. Furr in 1926. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, and a daughter, Cecile Buckner. Surviving: nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Clark- Sampson Funeral Home. Burial: Ashland Cemetery. Family visitation: 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home, where friends may call after 11 a.m. today.St. Joseph News-Press, St. Joseph, Missouri, February 8, 1993
