Darlene I. Simmons died March 14, 2002 of a prolonged illness at Memorial Medical Center, Las Cruces. She was born April 18, 1941 in La Mesa, TX, the daughter of J.D. and Mamie (Jarrett) Driver, both who preceded her in death. Darlene married Donald R. Simmons Sr., February 22, 1958 in San Angelo, TX. They were residents of Roswell, NM and settled in Las Cruces in 1980.She is survived by Don, her husband of 44 years, her son, Donald (Dr.) Simmons, Jr. and his wife Betty, of Florida; her daughters, Donna Simmons Furr, of Maryland; and Susan Fairchild, of Nevada; four grandchildren, Dawn Renee and D'Ann Simmons, of Nevada; Clint and Charlie Furr, of Idaho; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.A well known antique dealer on Picacho Ave., she owned and operated the High Class Junk Joint in Las Cruces for 20 years. Darlene has chosen to be cremated. No memorial has been planned. Graham Mortuary.Endnotes
