Notes
Death
ROBERT S. TISINGER 72, of Lantz Mill, a well known farmer and carpenter of a few years ago, was fatally injured about dusk on Tuesday evening when he stepped in front of a Ford car driven by Archer Miller. Mr. Tisinger was either walking or standing on the side of the highway almost directly in front of Clem's store. He was beside the road when the car approached and several boys were in the way of the machine. Mr. Miller blew the horn for them to clear the way, and Mr. Tisinger, evidently startled by the sudden noise, stepped right in front of the machine. The driver, tho alleged to be a fast driver, was driving slowly at the time of the accident, and stopped his car right over the injured man. The injured man was immediately taken to the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Lantz, where he had made his home during the past six years, and Dr. Stoneburner from Edinburg, was summoned. Upon examination he found that Mr. Tisinger's skull was fractured by the impact against the hard surfaced road, two ribs were broken, and he was also suffering from a number of bruises and cuts. The accident occurred at about 8 o'clock and Mr. Tisinger lived until 11:15. He had enjoyed good health, even tho advanced in years, and was quite active. He was a highly respected and well known citizen of his community. His wife, who was Miss Lidia Pence before her marriage, died about six years ago, at the old homeplace near Readus, where they lived for over forty years. Joining the Methodist church at the early age of sixteen years, Mr. Tisinger remained a faithful member until his death. He was active in church work and in the affairs of his community, and was familiarly known to many as "Uncle Bob." Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Edward S. Clark, Woodstock, Mrs. William C. Furr, Washington, D.C., Mrs. W. W. Lantz, Lantz Mill, and Mrs. J. E. Foltz, St. Luke; three sisters, Mrs. Kate Cornwell, Pittsburgh, Miss Alice Tisinger, Pittsburgh, and Miss Annie Tisinger, Calvary, two brothers, John Tisinger, Sarasota, N.Y., and Arthur Tisinger, Pittsburgh, and one greatdaughter, Miss Winona Lantz, Lantz Mill. Funeral services were conducted from the Union Forge Church this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by his pastor, the Rev. L. H. Richcreek, and interment was made in the Union Forge Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Messrs. Charles M. Grim, A. L. Grandstaff, W. L. Bowers, Charles E. Cook, E. D. Fadely, Lloyd Hutcheson, Joseph Gordon, and Charles Fravel. Honorary pallbearers were Messrs. M. L. Hite, A. J. Hoover, Perry Bowman, and Joseph Heltzel.Endnotes
