Lois Jean Cooper Wood, 76 of Rockville died at 8:20 AM Monday Dec. 15, 2003 in Union Hospital at Terre Haute. She retired from Meis Department Store in Terre Haute with 26 years of service. She was born March 11, 1927 in Parke County, Indiana to the late Merrill Cooper and Nina Batchelder Cooper. Survivors include her husband, Orville "Curly" Wood of Rockville; also surviving are two sons, James Payton and his wife Holly Payton of Washington, Indiana and Michael Payton and his wife Sandra Payton of Jasonville, Indiana; one daughter, Karen Furr and her husband Leroy Furr of Montezuma, Indiana; one step son, David Wood of Pennsylvania; one step daughter, Denise McFall of Rosedale, Indiana; one brother, Charles A. Cooper of Rockville; one sister, Helen Biggerstaff of Washington State; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. She was a 1945 graduate of Rockville High School. She was a member of the Rockville Christian Church. Services are 11:00 AM Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 Howard St. in Rockville with the Rev. Brad Bumgardner officiating. Burial is in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is from 5-8 PM on Tuesday at Gooch Funeral Home, and before services on Wednesday.
