Death
William Stephen Green, 80, of Rapidan, Va., died on Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Mountain View Nursing Home, Inc. He was born on Oct. 16, 1921 in Warrenton, Va. to the late William A. Green and Josephine Beach Green. He graduated from Warrenton High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army in India during World War II. He married Elizabeth Anne Burgess in 1947 and raised his family In Washington, D.C. prior to moving to McLean where he resided until 1991. He worked for the U.S. Tax Court in Washington, D.C. and retired after 31 years of civil service. He was a charter member of Charles Wesley Methodist Church in McLean and was a member of the Casanova Hunt Club for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Forster of Wildwood, IL, Stephanie Green of San Antonio, TX; one son, Stephen Green of Rapidan, VA; five sisters, Marguerite Powers of Warrenton, VA, Kathryn G. Modlin of Warrenton, VA, Helen G. Bickley of Culpeper, VA, Bessie G. Covington of Yorktown, VA, Jeanette Amato of Weyers Cave, VA; one brother, W. Robert Green of Warrenton, VA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Anne Green in 1972 and a brother, Ernest Lee Green in Nov. 01. A funeral service will be held today at 10 a.m. at Moser Funeral Home Chapel in Warrenton with the Rev. John Chadsey officiating. Interment will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.
