Notes
Death
Affectionately known as Russ, Russell Furr Moorman passed away at the age of 71 in his Knoxville, TN home on April 7, 2025 surrounded by his family. Russ was born on January 11, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN to parents Allen and Barbara Moorman. Living as a young boy with his family in Lombard, IL, he became a lifelong Cubs fan. He then spent most of his childhood in Evansville, IN where he later met his wife, Nancy. Although Russ' profession was electrical work, he was a mechanical genius with the ability to fix nearly anything and relished in helping his family and friends with his skills, including regularly fixing anything that needed it at his church, Old North Abbey Anglican Church in Knoxville. Russ set up his ham radio antennas wherever he lived, enjoyed bluegrass music, and kept a tidy workshop. He could never have enough chocolate ice cream. He loved motorcycles and hated helmets. Later in life, Russ suffered from Parkinson's disease, and never complained. Russell was preceded in death by his father, Allen Moorman. He is survived by wife Nancy Moorman; mother, Barbara Moorman; sister, Leslie (Charles) Mueller; brother, Craig (Diana) Moorman; daughter, Christina (Rodrigo) Silva; and sons, Russell (Rachel) Furr Moorman, II and James (Chelsea) Moorman. He was loved by his six grandchildren who called him "Grandpa," "Beeka" and "Beepaw": Claire, Aedan, Sarah, Daniel Russell, Logan, and Ezekiel. He was a brother-in-law, uncle, and cherished friend to many. All will miss Russ' quick wit and playful spirit. The family will receive friends 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Old North Abbey Angelican Church, with a funeral service following at 3:00 PM with Father Aarron Wright officiating. The interment will be private.Endnotes
