Death
Russell Eugene Serie, 77, was born on January 4, 1939 and passed away peacefully with his family on December 28, 2016. Russell was born in his grandparents’ farmhouse located 6 miles east of Attica to the late George Frances and Hilda Jeniece (Nicholson) Serie. He graduated from Attica High School in 1956 and went to Purdue University majoring in agriculture. Russell married Janice Kay (Berry) on May 17,1958 and started their family while farming. Russell served his country by enlisting in the Indiana National Guard during the Vietnam War. Russell drove the school bus for Attica for 47 years including driving the boy’s basketball and football team bus. He also substituted for the school district for 10 years. Some of Russell’s hobbies have included, motorcycling, snowmobiling, bowling, golfing, fishing, flying planes, woodworking, antique tractors, and Wednesday night poker. Most recently, Russell owned and operated Serie’s Hardwoods, Inc. with his wife and their youngest son. Surviving along with his wife of 58 years are their four children, Terry Serie of Argos, IN, Larry Serie (Debbie) of Lafayette, Cheryl Fletcher (Steve) of Lafayette, and Richard Serie (Rosemary) of Attica; his sister Mary Louise Robbins (Rick) of Lafayette. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Dustan, Lindsey, Michael, Amanda, Jimmy, and Andrew plus 4 great-grandchildren. Russell was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Serie. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, January 3rd from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 4th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rich Stoll officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica High School Athletic Boosters.Endnotes
